Pitched music to spotify Editors
No Turning Back Now!
3/18/2020What does this mean?
Spotify Editors are professionals at Spotify that listen and evaluate music to consider them for their official playlists. In order to get your music on these playlists, you have to write a sales pitch giving a compelling reason why they should add your song(s) to these official playlists! It's no easy feat to get added but writing a compelling pitch alone is the first hurdle!
These decisions are generally made based on genre, feel/moods, production quality and pitch of the track. It helps if the song has been featured in any major blogs or has been on an official playlist before. It also helps if you already have a large fan base. However, I do not have either of those, but it doesn't automatically disqualify the music! They are also looking for fresh and emerging works. Ultimately, Spotify Editors are looking for music to improve the experience of their listeners.
What's the big deal?
The big deal is, these playlists are some of the largest playlists and contain audiences reaching into the millions on Spotify. Getting a song onto one of these playlists could mean instant exposure, a significant increase of streams, and exponentially grow the fan base in a very short period of time. The music will be put up on their recommended public playlists such as "Workout", "Intense Studying", or "Dreamy Vibes" etc.
What's next?
Now that a song has been pitched, I will continue making more music! I will try to forget about it. I will not let my first attempt's outcome affect my ability to create music, nor change my outlook. I will simply make another release and try again! Yes, it would be nice if it happens on the first try, but producing music is something I love and it's rewarding no matter how many streams and listeners I have.
